FASTag is a reloadable tag which will be affixed to the vehicle’s windscreen, so that while crossing the toll plaza the toll charges are auto deducted through the tag. This allows to avoid cash transaction and pay the toll fee without stopping. The tag uses Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) technology and is linked to a prepaid account from which the applicable toll amount is deducted.

Yes, the Government of India has made FASTag mandatory from 2021 for all four-wheelers and big vehicles. There will be penalty charges of double toll fees, if there is no FASTag or it is non-functional.

Security Deposit in FASTag is taken by bank, because if customer defaults in payment, banks can adjust the dues from their security deposit.

There may be some additional charges to recharge the FASTag account if you recharge through certain channels. So, recharge via UPI/BillPay to avoid any convenience charges.

In the FASTag wallet, a minimum amount needs to be maintained. If the balance of the wallet goes below the assigned amount, then your FASTag will show Low Balance. You need to recharge at that moment to cross any toll further.

Yes, FASTag will work on all toll plazas of National highways and a few State Highways. You can check the list of FASTag enabled toll plazas on bank's or Service Provider’s website.

There will be no issue as FASTag is not city specific. It will work fine on all enabled toll plazas.

Tag blacklisted means vehicle not allowed to pay through FASTag at the toll plaza. It can be due to several reasons like Tag does not have sufficient balance, rule violation complaint registered by the law enforcement agencies. You should call the customer call number of bank or service provider in such conditions.

Return journey of FASTag is configured at toll plaza acquiring bank system. The acquiring bank calculates the return journey based on toll plaza fare rules and transaction time.
