KIA Cars are one of the most searched cars in India while KIA Motors entered the country last year with the Seltos SUV. Later, it expanded its range of products with the Kia Carnival MPV while the company's third product in the Indian market was the highly-anticipated Sonet sub 4-m SUV. The brand made its first appearance at the 2018 Auto Expo a couple of years back. On the other hand, the parent organization - Kia Motors Corporation - had its inception in 1944 in South Korea and it is one of the oldest Korean companies. Besides India, it retails cars and SUVs in more than 180 countries across the world. Kia cars has a manufacturing facility in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh with production capacity of 3 Lakh units per year. The company made a capital investment of 2 billion USD in this facility.
KIA Motors, despite being more than a year old in the Indian market, KIA Cars has managed to inaugurate over 100 touchpoints in majority of the cities in several states. Currently, Mr. Kookhyun Shim is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Managing Director (MD) of Kia Motors India. In addition, Manohar Bhat is appointed as the Head of Marketing & Sales, and Tae-Jin Park as the company's Executive Director (ED) and Chief Sales Officer (CSO). There are presently three boards of directors for the Indian division of Kia Motors: Sunggi Kim, Kookhyun Shim, and Woo Jeong Joo. Kia Motors is using Hyundai's research and development centre in Hyderabad for the time being, but it has plans to set up its own unit in future.
