Honda Activa needs no formal introduction in India as it is the most loved two-wheeler in the country with the highest ever sales numbers till date. Being firstly introduced nearly two decades back in 1999, the scooter is in the sixth generation currently. Honda Activa 6G was launched in January 2020 with subtle cosmetic updates, advanced tech features, and a BS6 compliant engine in the Indian market. It is being offered in two versions: Activa 6G and Activa 125. Honda Activa owns more than half (57 percent) of the market share in the 110cc scooter segment in India which already has several worthy contenders.
Honda Activa 6G was launched on January 15, 2020 at Rs 63,912 for the standard variant and Rs 65,412 (Both the prices are Ex. Showroom) for the Deluxe variant in the Indian market. The scooter has received a price hike twice since then and the current Honda Activa 6G price in India is Rs. 79.25 K for the Standard variant and Rs 81.75 K (Both the prices are Ex. Showroom) for the Deluxe variant. Honda increased the prices for the first time in April by Rs 500 while the second price hike was announced by Rs 1000 in September on the entire variant range of Activa 6G.
Honda Activa 6G is powered by a BS6 compliant 109.51cc fan cooled 4-stroke SI petrol engine which delivers maximum power output of 7.68bhp at 8000rpm and peak torque performance of 8.79Nm at 5250rpm. The engine comes paired with an automatic clutch system. The Activa 6G is equipped with Fuel-injection technology as compared to the carburettor in the previous-gen model. Furthermore, Honda has also offered ESP technology and ACG silent start system with the scooter as standard features. It is available in both kick and self start modes.
Honda Activa 6G is presented in two variants: Standard and Deluxe. Both the variants are identical to each other, save for the LED headlamp in the Deluxe variant while the Standard variant gets a halogen headlamp as standard feature. There is no difference between the two variants of Honda Activa 6G, besides the headlamp as they boast of same features altogether. The price difference between Honda Activa 6G Standard and Honda Activa 6G Deluxe is around Rs 1500, which is reasonable considering the inclusion of LED headlamp.
Honda Activa 6G retains the basic iconic design of the scooter with a very few subtle updates like the inclusion of new graphics to make it even more attractive. The front apron is partially restyled with chrome inserts and metal body panels. In fact, the major update is in the dimensions as it has a longer wheelbase as compared to its predecessor. Honda Activa 6G is available in six color schemes namely Glitter Blue Metallic, Pearl Precious White, Dazzle Yellow Metallic, Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic and Pearl Sport Tan Red.
Honda Activa 6G is equipped with a myriad of advance and up-market features such as front tubeless tyre, double lid external fuel fill, LED headlamp, telescopic front and 3-step rear adjustable suspension setup and Engine Start/Stop switch. In addition, the scooter gets the 'Multi-function unit' feature which enables the rider to open underseat storage and external fuel lid in one go with utmost comfort and convenience. The side-stand indicator with inhibitor safety provision, borrowed from the Activa 125, also comes as a standard feature.
Honda Activa 6G is claimed to be 10 percent more efficient than the preceding model due to the inclusion of the company's globally acclaimed eSP technology. Honda Activa 6G mileage is 60kmpl (ARAI certified). However, this figure might drop to 50-55kmpl in the thick city traffic. Considering the power output and torque performance figures, the mileage of Honda Activa 6G is decent and even if compared with its rivals, it is upto the mark.
Honda Activa 6G takes on the likes of TVS Jupiter, Hero Maestro Edge 110 and Suzuki Access 125 in the Indian market.
