Special Protection Group (SPG) decides the car in which the Indian PM has to travel. BMW 760Li is the current car of Narendra Modi, the same was used for his predecessor Manmohan Singh too. The armoured luxury saloon is powered by a powerful V12 engine. The engine in particular delivers a maximum power output of 539 bhp. Performance wise the 760 Li can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 210 kmph. Talking about the armour, it comes equipped with VR7 grade as well as VR9 ballistic protection. The most impressive fact is that the cabin can become a gas-safe chamber in the event of a chemical attack. For this there is a back-up oxygen tank for its occupants . A brand-new BMW 760 Li currently retails at Rs. 2.5 crores (ex-showroom) in India but with the modifications in this case, the price can easily cross Rs 10 crore.
Narendra Modi in the past has been spotted being driven in the Mahindra Scorpio. The SUV was the preferred mode of transport for Mr Modi before becoming the Prime Minister of India. The Scorpio was specially designed for his protection and it came with a bulletproof kit. The glass windows could withstand 9 mm armed assailants shooting plus the fuel tank was made of fire suppression material to avoid any fire. The BS6 Mahindra Scorpio is powered by a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine. The SUV generates 140 bhp of power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The base variant price of Mahindra is priced at Rs 12.40 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Delhi).
The iconic and powerful SUV is a part of PM Modi’s motorcade and is often spotted driving him to rallies/events across the country. Like other cars in his motorcade, the SUV is customized to provide an added layer of security to the PM. Toyota Land Cruiser is powered by a 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine. The powertrain churns out an impressive 262 bhp of power and 650 Nm of peak torque. Expect the usual bulletproof and ballistic protection in the premium SUV. The engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD (Wheel Drive) system. Currently Toyota Land Cruiser retails at Rs 1.28 Crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Prime Minister of India is currently using a Range Rover Sentinel. The luxury SUV comes with features like non-shattering bulletproof glass, vehicle fragment protection and an emergency escape system. Further its occupants are insulated against IED's while the vehicle can run on flat tyres for a distance of 50 kms at a speed of 80 kmph. Range Rover Sentinel is powered by a massive 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine delivering 375 bhp of power. It can accelerate from 0-100 in under 10 seconds having a top speed of 193 Kmph. With the current security protocols in place, the exact price was Range Rover Sentinel not known.
