Volvo Car India has commenced accepting bookings for the XC40 Recharge Single motor variant. The auto giant launched the Single variant of the SUV in the Indian market earlier this month. The electric SUV comes at a price of INR 54.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Customers can reserve this variant through the brand’s official website by paying a token amount of INR 1 lakh.

The new XC40 Recharge Single motor variant is produced at Volvo's Hoskote facility located in Karnataka. The company produces other standard versions of the electric vehicle at the same plant. The Single variant is around INR 3 lakh more affordable than the EV’s standard model. The XC40 Recharge is the first electric car from Volvo’s lineup in India. It is priced at INR 57.90 lakh (showroom).

The XC40 Recharge Single comes equipped with a 69-kWh battery set that provides a certified range of 475 km on one charge. The battery set powers an e-motor that churns out power of 238 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque. The EV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds. The company has electronically limited the high speed to 180 km/h. As compared to the dual-motor variant, the  XC40 Recharge is less robust. The top variant of the EV generates 402 bhp of power and a peak torque of 660 Nm. It has a certified range of 418 km on one charge.

The single motor version comes loaded with updated features like collision mitigation support, seven airbags, lane-keeping aid, adaptive cruise control, Google apps, pilot assist, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, an eight-speaker 250-watt sound system, vegan leather upholstery, telematics, digital services with a complimentary five-year subscription, a wireless charging pad, a reverse parking camera, and an air purifier with a PM2.5 sensor.

Customers will also benefit from a three-year ownership package that includes roadside assistance, servicing, and an eight-year battery warranty. It's important to remember that Volvo recently changed the names of the XC40 and C40 Recharge in overseas markets to EX40 and EC40, respectively. The brand will implement new nomenclature schemes across all overseas markets. However, as of now, the Indian subsidiary will continue to retail the C40 and XC40 EVs with existing names.
