News Highlights

  • The V4CR is designed, engineered and built in the UK
  • It will be one of the most powerful Cafe Racer models
  • It will be powered by a 185bhp 1200cc V4 petrol engine

Norton Motorcycles has revealed the first images of the V4CR naked Café Racer version of the V4SV superbike. Being the first prototype to be designed, engineered and built at the recently opened global headquarters in the UK, Norton V4CR will make its public debut at Motorcycle Live 2021 on the Norton stand. The company also announced that it will be one of the most powerful Cafe Racer models with a 1200cc V4 engine at the helm of affairs. Just so you know, TVS Motor Company had acquired Norton Motorcycles in April 2020.

Norton V4CR will come fitted with carbon fibre fuel tank and body panels, polished billet aluminium swingarm and frame. Being based on the same V4 platform as the V4SV superbike, it will get compact framework and a shorter rear frame. The V4 frame was revised over the last 16 months by a team of 30 engineers and subject to tens of thousands of road and track miles, as part of Norton’s unrelenting development process. Going by the images, it can also be stated that the V4CR Cafe Racer will boast of Brembo brakes and Ohlins suspension setup. Since Norton is not calling it a 'Concept' but prototype, it is expected to enter production soon and go on sale by the end of 2022.

Dr Robert Hentschel, Chief Executive Officer, Norton Motorcycles: “The prototype VC4R is the next step in Norton’s strategic growth plan on its journey to becoming the world-leader in luxury hand-crafted motorcycles.” Mechanically, Norton V4CR will draw power from a 1200cc V4 petrol engine with maximum power output of 185 bhp. Since Norton is not calling it a 'Concept' but prototype, we feel that it will enter production soon. Identical to Norton V4SV superbike, the V4CR will also be a hand-built motorcycle. The company hasn't shed much light on the pricing but it is believed to come with a stelar price tag. Upon launch in India, it would find foes in Royal Enfield Interceptor and BMW R nineT.
