MV Augusta

Legendary Italian bike maker MV Agusta has launched their first ADV touring bike Turismo Veloce 800 in the Indian market. The price for the bike starts at Rs 18.99 lakhs and it will lock horns with the likes of Ducati Multistrada 950, Triumph Tiger 800 XCA, and BMW F850 GS in the Indian market but the Italian bike is much more expensive than its rivals. The company has improved the riding ergonomics by a large margin with this bike and the large front windscreen creates a wind deflection zone that keeps the road wind away from rider's face and upper part of body thereby making it ideal for long distance tours. The handlebar on the bike has been flattened and the foot pegs have been shifted slightly backward to give the rider a relaxed stance. Off-roading has also been taken care of as the footpegs come with removable rubber padding.

Talking of the mechanical aspect of the bike, the engine here is a 798cc 3-pot unit rated to deliver 108 Bhp 83 Nm. The transmission duties are handled by a 6 speed slipper clutch manual gearbox. The top speed of the bike is rated at 230 Kmph and the naught to ton figure can be achieved in nearly 4 seconds. What the Turismo Veloce 800 can be termed as the ADV version of the Brutale 800 street naked. While the front of the superbike looks totally different, many elements at the rear are strikingly similar to those on the Brutale, and this includes the triple exhaust design and the trellis frame.

Coming to the features on offer on the Italian bike, the instrument cluster here is a TFT unit and the suspension duties are handled by upside down forks at front and monoshocker at the rear. The front suspension is a long travel unit. The bike comes with dual channel ABS and gets an 8 function traction control system. The braking duties are handled by a 240 mm single disc at rear and 320mm twin discs on the front wheel. The motorcycle also gets a two way quick shifter that will allow the rider to shift gears without using the clutch. The Turismo Veloce 800, like all other MV Agusta superbikes, is imported as a completely built unit (CBU) from Italy.

The brand has plans to bring out an automatic version of the bike, but that is expected to take place sometime in 2020. The main USP of MV Agusta bikes in India is the exclusive nature of the models due to the steep price tag that comes attached to them. Therefore, if exclusivity along with great performance is something that you are eyeing, this might just be the bike for you.
