South Korean maker Hyundai is gearing up to shake up yet another segment in the car market of the country. After having caused the topple of Maruti Vitara Brezza sub-4 metre compact SUV with thelp of their Venue SUV, the maker is now looking at repeating the same feat in the mid-size hatchback segment with their upcoming launch of Grand i10 NIOS. This will be the next generation model of the Hyundai Grand i10 and it is scheduled to be launched on 20 August, 2019. The production of the hatch has started at the company's Sriperumbudur factory near Chennai. Soon the dispatches for the hatch will start taking place. However, the maker has no plans to immediately discontinue the current Grand i10 in the market and the two hatches will be sold alongside in the Indian market. This will mean that the Grand i10 will become a budget offering in the segment and will give an even tough time to the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo. The new platform will not only make the upcoming i10 NIOS bigger, it will also help the hatch shed a lot of weight.
