Tata Motors has finally launched the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG in the Indian market. Being termed as Tata Tiago iCNG and Tata Tigor iCNG, the duo comes with a warranty of 2 years or 75,000 kms, whichever is earlier, as a standard option for all customers. The CNG powered hatch is introduced in five variants XE, XM, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Dual Tone in a price range of Rs 6.09-7.64 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the CNG version of the sedan has been presented in three trims namely XZ, XZ+ and XZ+ Dual Tone in price bracket of Rs 7.69-8.41 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi).


Tata has offered a new Midnight Plum color with the Tiago iCNG while the Tigor iCNG will be available in a new Magnetic Red shade. The hatch is packed with advanced features like Projector Headlamps with LED DRLs, Chrome embellishments on the exteriors and premium black and beige dual tone interiors. As for the sedan, it boasts of Rain sensing wipers, Automatic headlamps, Dual tone roof, new seat fabric and new dual tone black and beige interiors. The duo gets segment-first direct start in CNG mode while with a single advance ECU, auto switchover between fuels can be made. The Tiago iCNG and Tigor iCNG are equipped with a digital instrument cluster, dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Stability control as standard.

Mechanically, Tata Tiago iCNG and Tata Tigor iCNG are powered by the BS6 1.2L 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine which produces maximum power of 72 bhp at 6000 rpm. The aforementioned power output figures are highest for any CNG car in this segment. The duo delivers torque performance of 95 Nm at 3500 rpm while linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. Besides the fuel tank (petrol) capacity of 35 litres, the duo has a 60 litres water filling capacity in CNG. Tata Tiago iCNG will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG and Hyundai Wagon R CNG while Tata Tigor iCNG will directly rival Hyundai Aura CNG in the Indian market.
