Chevrolet Sales India Pvt Ltd exited the Indian market in 2017 after opening up of business way back in 2003. In a press statement released recently, the automaker affirmed its commitment to offer after-sales support to its customers in India. This would come as a relief to the Indian customers who are in possession of Chevrolet vehicles. At one time, it was the 5th largest automobile manufacturer in India but discontinued operations due to plunging sales and global restructuring of business. Despite the withdrawal from the Indian market, Chevrolet will continue to offer after-sales support in 2021 and beyond it through its authorized service operations and authorized parts distributors. Currently, their operations are running in 142 Indian cities.

Chevrolet has already sold one of its manufacturing facility to MG Motor India while it is in negotiations with Great Wall Motor to sell its remaining production units in the country which could see a delay. This has happened due to the ongoing China-India standoff. Despite ceasing operations, the automaker will continue to supply vehicle parts through the parts distribution centre in Talegaon while at the same time, the service network is taken care of by technical support and field teams.

Markus Sternberg, Vice President- Commercial Operations Chevrolet India, said regarding the decision to offer after-sales support to the Indian customers. He said, “At Chevrolet, we believe our customers remain at the centre of everything we do which is well reflected by our strong after-sales network and assured commitment to provide services and offers to ensure their Chevrolet vehicle is serviced and maintained well.” Also, he added, “Furthermore, we will continue to provide parts through our channel partners and honour all our commitments to customers in India throughout 2021 and beyond." He also added, the company’s 2020 Chevrolet Mega Service Camps, the industry-first “Zero Labor Camp”, and regional camps will be continued in 2021.
