BMW India has launched the SportX Plus variants of the X5 SUV at a starting price of Rs 77.90 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in the country. Being introduced in two variants namely BMW X5 xDrive30d SportX Plus and BMW X5 xDrive40i SportX Plus, it will be locally produced at the German brand's Chennai production facility while bookings are open at BMW India's website. The X5 SportX Plus variants can be availed with BMW Service Inclusive and BMW Service Inclusive Plus as optional. Moreover, the buyers can also opt for monthly payments starting Rs 65,999 via BMW India Financial Services.


BMW X5 xDrive SportX Plus Design and Features

The SportX Plus flaunts a huge one-piece hexagonal kidney grille which compliments the sculptured bonnet and short overhangs. The front fascia also boasts of LED headlights and LED fog lamps while the rear end gets 3D wrap-around LED tail lights. The side profile is dominated by roof rails in satin-finish aluminum. The SUV will be available in three paint shades namely Mineral White, Phytonic Blue and Black Sapphire. The cabin is finished in a dual tone Canberra Beige and Black theme in Sensatec upholstery. Some of the notable features in the SUV include Sports Leather Steering Wheel, Sports Seats with electrical adjustment and memory function, Panoramic glass roof, Welcome Light Carpet, Ambient Lighting with six colors, four-zone automatic climate control and electrically adjustable roller sunblinds.

The cabin is based on the modern cockpit concept - BMW Live Cockpit Professional - with the latest BMW Operating System 7.0 which gets an array of features like 3D Navigation, High-resolution instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch screen and a control display also measuring 12.3-inch. It is compatible with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin also features BMW Gesture Control, BMW Display Key, BMW Head-Up Display, Parking Assistant with Rear View Camera and a new 205W HiFi loudspeaker system. As for safety, the SportX Plus variants have features such as six airbags, Electronically controlled ‘Automatic Differential Brakes/Locks’ (ADB-X), extended ‘Dynamic Traction Control’ (DTC), Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control on-board. Cruise control with braking is also a standard feature.


BMW X5 xDrive SportX Plus Engine

BMW X5 is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variants come with a 3.0L 6-cylinder twin turbo engine with power output of 340 bhp and torque delivery of 450 Nm. It does a 0-100kmph sprint in merely 5.5 seconds. On the other hand, the diesel variants are powered by a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine which generates top power of 265 bhp and highest torque of 620 Nm while sprinting to 100kmph from standstill in only 6.5 seconds. Both the engines are linked to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters alongside the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The SUV comes loaded with an adaptive suspension system with its individual electronically controlled dampers.
