No Mask No Fuel

Arunachal Pradesh has asked all its fuel filling stations and gas agencies to not render services to customers who do not wear a face mask. District Food and Civil Supplies Officer (DFCSO) Amit Bengia issued a notice to all the petrol and diesel filling stations in this regard. It was directed by the state government that this step is essential in ensuring the safety of the public in the capital city of Itanagar amidst the increase in COVID-19 cases across the country.

"No consumer will be allowed to purchase fuel or LPG cylinders in the capital region without a mask," Bengia added. Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh posted on his Twitter account that 'no mask, no fuel' rule has been implemented in Itanagar. Arun Kipa Loram, who is the President of Capital Complex Petroleum Depot Association, said that they have forwarded necessary directions and instructions to all the petrol pump owners and managers in Itanagar. "We have specifically asked them to ensure that there is no negligence during working hours and appealed to the people to follow the government order and wear masks when they step out to buy fuel," Loram said.

"People coming from other states to Itanagar will be quarantined at the PTC for 14 days or more to avoid chances of virus transmission. The entire PTC area has been disinfected on Sunday under the supervision of Naharlagun SDPO R Kamsi and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Gari Tai," Capital SP Tumme Amo said. The administration has stationed doctors and health workers alongside the magistrate and police personnels at the centre for screening the returnees.
