Piaggio India had unveiled the 2020 Vespa VXL and SXL facelifts at the Auto Expo 2020 in February. After much wait, the company has opened pre-bookings for both the models at their official website - shop.vespaindia.com. The Coronavirus pandemic has forced the two-wheeler manufacturers to initiate online bookings for their vehicles. It is also following the suit with the New Vespa VXL and SXL facelifts as they can now be booked online for just Rs 1000. The launch of the scooters is expected in the coming days by July end or first week of August. The facelifted scooters will be available in new colour schemes with updates in features too. As most of the Vespa scooters are priced above Rs 1 Lakh, we can expect the VXL and SXL facelifts to be around the same price range.
The 2020 Vespa VSL and SXL are built on a monocoque steel body. Some of the salient features include 5-petal alloy wheels, boot lighting, USB mobile charging port and Day-time Running Lights (DRLs).
There will be no updates on the performance side with both the scooters expected to deliver the power same as the outgoing models. The Vespa 125cc will be powered by a BS6 compliant engine with a fuel injection system. The engine will churn out 9.7 bhp of maximum power and 9.60 Nm of peak torque. The 150 cc scooter, on the other hand, will deliver 10.3 hp of maximum power and 10.6 Nm of peak torque. Front twin discs and adjustable rear suspension will come in VXL and SXL facelifts.
Few samples of 2020 VXL and SXL scooters are already shipped to the various authorized dealerships across the country. Post the official launch of the scooters, deliveries would begin. Recently, Piaggio India launched a website portal for purchasing and booking of bikes in June 2020. One online store is for Vespa scooters and another separately for Aprilla range of motorcycles. Prospective customers can interact with the dealerships and ask queries regarding the various models. Dealerships can accept the booking while various formalities regarding documentation and payment can be done on the online website. The customers don’t need to go to dealerships/showrooms for purchasing scooters or bikes. The scooters will be delivered directly to the customers.
