In 2017, India surpassed China to become the largest two-wheeler market in the world with an estimated 37 million motorcycles/mopeds plying on the roads. It’s not surprising to see the top motorcycle brands offering their latest and best products to the Indian consumers. Like Dhoom movie series, where Abhishek Bachhan rides a Suzuki Hayabusa to catch the criminals who had superbikes too. Indian Policemen too are now equipped with the latest superbikes to maintain law and order in the country. We are now going to take a look at some of the motorcycles that Indian policemen use it in their daily worklife.
Uttar Pradesh Police
Uttar Pradesh Policemen have got a new toy - Honda CBR 250R. Honda had unveiled CBR 250R ‘Police Edition’ at the Security Expo in 2013 and soon, the state of Uttar Pardesh purchased it for their police force. Honda Police Edition motorcycle currently used by the UP Police doesn’t have the fancy features like LED lamps but offer a public announcement system, helmet with a built-in mic that too hands-free. The bike retains the unique Honda CBR 250R body with livery and the utility box.
Delhi Police, Punjab Police
Bajaj Pulsar is one of the most popular ranges of motorcycles in India and even in outside the country. It’s not just the Indian consumers, even the Delhi Police and Punjab Police use it. An interesting bit of information is that the Delhi Police Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle does not have rev limiter fitted in order to extract the maximum juice out of it. The Pulsar 180 is often used by the police for its performance and low maintenance costs. Don’t be surprised to see a Delhi cop riding a Bajaj Pulsar 180 and catching a traffic offender. Currently Delhi Police is using Bajaj Pulsar 150 for its COVID-19 squad.
Kolkata Police, Gujarat Police
Harley Davidson 750 made its first appearance at the 2013 EICMA show in Milan and became popular around the world. Kolkata Police and Gujarat Police purchased this premium motorcycle for its official Police Force. Gujarat was the first to induct and later Kolkata Police followed it. The 750 is powered by a 749 cc displacement version of Harley's 60° SOHC V-twin, water-cooled Revolution engine makes it hard for the criminals to run from the police. Harley Davidson Police motorcycles come equipped with added features like unique livery, utility box, public announcement system and police beacons. It is used only for specific cases and not for regular patrolling.
Noida Police, Delhi Police, Kerala Police, Tamil Nadu Police
TVS Apache RTR 160 is being used by the Delhi Police in its Covid-19 patrol bike squad. TVS Apache is one of the chief rivals to the Bajaj Pulsar which is also employed by the Delhi Police. TVS Apache RTR 160 and RTR 180 is employed by the various police departments to maintain law and order.
Mumbai Police, Delhi Police, Kolkata Police, Kerala Police, Gujarat Police

They are using the Royal Enfield motorcycles to spread awareness about the COVID-19 while maintaining the law and order. At one time, Royal Enfield motorcycles were common in Indian police before high-performance motorcycles came onto the scene but it is still making a comeback in the Police again.
Delhi Police, Gurugram Police
Honda Activa is one of the popular options for commutation by women in India. Police women in National Capital and Gurguram use the Activa for patrolling the busy streets. Honda Activa is the best selling scooter in India currently now, it churns out 8 bhp of maximum power offering drum brakes up front as well as at rear.
Jaipur Police
The Pink City purchased Hero Duet for its hard working Police women. Powered by a 110.9 cc air-cooled, 4 - stroke single cylinder OHC, it churns out 8 bhp of power and 8.7 Nm of peak torque. The city might be pink but the scooters come in black with features like public announcement systems and Jaipur Police livery decals.
Goa Police
Hero Splendor is omnipresent on the Indian roads with even Goa Police being a big fan. Goa Police uses Hero Splendor to cover large distances considering it gives a mileage between 60-80 kmpl. Powered by a 97.2 cc engine, it is reliable with low maintenance making it a good choice for the Goa Policemen in regular patrolling.
Policemen are provided Hero Achiever motorcycles for their work-related activities. The Hero Achiever first arrived in India in 2006 and is powered by a 149.00 cc engine. This motorcycle is preferred for reliability and its lightweight attribute.
Udaipur Police
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje flagged off the Women squad on October 6, 2016. Udaipur Police women in their striking blue uniform can be seen riding Hero Motorcycles while performing their daily duty. Hero motorcycles are equipped with features like red-and-blue beacon lights, a P.A. system, and a first-aid box.
