The latest MG Astor is known for its class-leading technology, safety features (especially ADAS), and a genuinely premium interior ambiance. Recently, the car started selling at a premium of Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 19,000.

The Astor competes in the highly competitive compact to mid-size SUV segment in India. It competes with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, and Tata Curvv.

MG Astor Price Increase Details (with Variants)

MG Motor India has increased prices across all the variants of the Astor. The hikes range from Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 19,000.

The Astor shed its turbo petrol engine option with its model-year update in early 2025 and is now available only with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine.

Here's a detailed breakdown of the price increase for the current 1.5L NA variants (ex-showroom Delhi):

• Sprint MT New Price: ₹11.48 lacs (+ ₹18,000)
• Shine MT New Price: ₹12.67 lacs (+ ₹19,000)
• Select MT New Price: ₹14.00 lacs (+ ₹18,000)
• Sharp Pro MT New Price: ₹15.34 lacs (+ ₹13,000) 
• Select CVT New Price: ₹15.00 lacs (+ ₹15,000)
• Sharp Pro CVT New Price: ₹16.64 lacs (+ ₹15,000)
• Savvy Pro CVT New Price:  ₹17.63 lacs (+ ₹17,000)

Why Have the MG Astor Prices Increased?

MG Motor India has attributed the price hike to several factors. It's a strategic move to maintain profitability margins in the face of increasing operational expenditures.

Rising Input Costs: The cost of raw materials, components, logistics, and labor has been steadily increasing globally

Macroeconomic Pressures: Economic factors such as inflation, currency fluctuations, and changes in taxation policies can also impact manufacturing costs.

Compliance Requirements: Sometimes, updates to meet new emission norms or safety regulations can lead to increased costs.

MG Astor Key Features & Specifications

MG Astor carved out a niche for itself by offering several "special" features in India, particularly in terms of technology and premium feel for its price point.

For instance, it comes with an AI-powered personal assistant on the dashboard that responds to voice commands (in Hinglish). Astor was also one of the first cars to offer Level 2 ADAS features (on higher variants).

The car also features soft-touch materials on the dashboard, turbine-inspired AC vents, and well-bolstered seats with dual-tone (Sangria Red/Ivory) leatherette upholstery

The car also has a digital key with a key sharing feature. It has i-SMART 2.0 connected car tech that offers over 80 connected car features.

The car model has stopped offering the high-performance turbo-petrol engine. It now runs on a 1.5-litre VTi-TECH, 4-Cylinder, Naturally Aspirated Petrol engine.

It can produce around 108.49 bhp (at 6,000 rpm) of power and about 144 Nm (at 4,400 rpm) of torque. It offers a 5-speed Manual Transmission (MT) and an 8-step CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) Automatic.
