Mahindra has acted on the customer feedback to strategically launch the 79 kWh battery pack variants for its two EVs. The Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 now have a longer range variant with an affordable price tag than the Pack 3 (79 kWh) variants.
Deliveries for these two long-range and more powerful 79 kWh variants are expected to begin in July-end. Mahindra XUV 9e (coupe SUV) and BE 6 (SUV) compete with EVs like Tata Harrier EV, Tata Curvv EV, BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV, and MG Windsor EV.
The Mahindra BE 6 and XUV 9e are built on the same INGLO platform and share many core mechanical and technological components. The "Pack 2" variants of the Mahindra XEV 9e (or XUV.e9) and Mahindra BE 6 were available with 59 kWh battery packs only until today's 79 kWh variant launch.
There are also significant changes and improvements in the powertrain for the 79 kWh battery variants compared to the 59 kWh variants. Here is an overview of features and specifications for both 79 kWh Pack Two models:
The prices of these two variants are:
Existing customers who booked 59 kWh Pack Two variants have the option to upgrade their bookings to the new 79 kWh variant. Deliveries for these new Pack Two variants will begin in end-July 2025.
Mahindra uses the "Pack" nomenclature to simplify its trim levels for its Born Electric (BE) range. These "Packs" are ascending tiers of features, battery options, and performance.

The company made this move according to the market demand and as a clever way to democratize access to longer-range EVs. Here are the reasons explained:
Customer Feedback and Demand for Range: Internal research and early booking trends revealed that a significant segment of customers prioritized extended driving range over every single premium feature. Many buyers wanted the long range of the 79 kWh battery without having to pay for all the luxury add-ons of the "Pack 3".
Balancing Range and Affordability: A 79 kWh battery in Pack Two allows customers to get the highly desired longer range at a more accessible price point.
Democratizing Premium EV Mobility: The larger battery in a mid-spec variant ensures that the benefits of a longer range are not exclusive to the most expensive models.
Production Prioritization and Mix: Mahindra wants to sustain high sales volumes and tap into a broader market. They need strong sales from Pack One and Pack Two as well. Introducing the 79 kWh option in Pack Two is a key enabler for this.
