The fourth-gen Skoda Fabia has made its world premiere at the company's headquarters in Mladá Boleslav. For the first time, it has been based on Volkswagen Group’s modular MQB-A0 architecture. The new iteration of the hatchback is bigger in size than its predecessor while being offered with a total of five petrol powertrains. The fourth-gen 2021 Skoda Fabia is not expected to launch in India as the company had discontinued the previous-gen hatchback long way back in 2013 after a dismal sales performance.
The 2021 Skoda Fabia is longer by 11cm than the preceding model and measures at 4108mm. The boot capacity too has increased by 50 litres from the existing 330 litres to 380 litres. It flaunts LED headlamps with cornering and adaptive light functions, Sculptural lines on bonnet and cooling shutters in the front bumper’s lower air inlet. The hatch is available with several wheel sizes - ranging from 14-inch to 19-inch, while the rear end boasts of LED tail-lamp cluster. The door handles are newly designed with chrome surroundings. The wheelbase stands at 2564mm which is 94mm more than its predecessor. It has been introduced in three trims namely Active, Ambition and Style, while the sporty Monte Carlo trim will be launched at a later stage.
The 2021 Skoda Fabia interior cabin comes loaded with a lot of bells and whistles in the form of a heated windscreen, heated steering wheel, 10.25-inch all digital instrument cluster and a free standing 9.2-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Mechanically, the hatchback will be available with five petrol engines from Volkswagen Group’s current EVO generation. The power outputs of the various petrol engines will range from 64bhp to 147bhp. The 1.5L petrol engine will be exclusively offered with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard while the engines delivering upto 94bhp will come with a 5-speed manual unit. Last but not the least, the 1.0L TSI with 108bhp power can be availed with a choice of a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic 7-speed DSG.
