Mahindra & Mahindra, known for manufacturing robust and sportier SUVs in India, has recently announced that the first unit of the Thar Roxx will be auctioned in India. The Thar Roxx with VIN ‘0001’ is set for auction, and the company will donate the proceeds to a good cause. Mahindra will start the auction registration from September 12 onwards. Official bookings for the new Thar Roxx will begin on October 3, 2025, whereas deliveries will commence on Dussehra. On the contrary, test drives for buyers will start from September 14 onwards.
This is not the first time Mahindra has lined up its SUV for auction. The popular Thar 3-door model was also set for auction back in 2020. The highest bidding price for the Thar 3-door was INR 1.11 crore (ex-showroom). A Delhi resident, Aakash Minda, got the LX Petrol Automatic variant of the SUV during the auction. The company received more than 5,500 bids for the Mahindra Thar 3-door off-roader from across 500 Indian regions.

In the Indian market, the Mahindra Thar 5-Door comes at a starting price of INR 12.99 lakh and goes up to INR 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top versions. In comparison to the 3-door version, the Mahindra Thar Roxx comes with a range of updated features.

The Thar Roxx SUV has a longer wheelbase with an extra set of doors, new projector lens headlamps with LED DRLs, bigger boot space, new alloy wheels, and more. The cabin of the SUV features a white interior, and it is loaded with features like a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, ventilated front seats, and a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Other features include auto climate control, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and more. On the safety front, the Thar Roxx features ABS with EBD, six airbags, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-Door Powertrain
Under the bonnet, the Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-door draws power from 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines. Both units are mated to automatic and manual transmission options. The Thar Roxx rivals the likes of the Force Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
