BMW Motorrad has recently released a teaser image of the C 400 GT on its social media handles. The bike maker will be launching its first maxi-scooter in September or October this year. It is most likely to make its way to our market via the CBU route. In the global market, the scooter falls in the price range of Rs 6 lakh - Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, we can expect it to be priced at around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. The unofficial bookings for the upcoming premium scooter have been commenced across select company dealerships. Interested buyers can get the bookings done at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.
Cosmetically, the upcoming BMW C 400 GT will get full-LED lighting, keyless operation, a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, a large windscreen, USB charging, traction control, and riding modes as standard. However, features like heated grips might come as an option. The new maxi-scooter will also come with a new e-gas system which is basically an updated form of throttle-by-wire system. Other features include a new catalytic converter, a modified cylinder head, and a new oxygen sensor.
Performance-wise, the C 400 GT maxi-scooter gets a 350cc,single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that churns out a maximum power of 33 bhp and a peak torque of 35 Nm. The unit is further mated to a CVT gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks upfront and a dual-shock absorber at the rear. In terms of the brake, the scooter gets twin-disc at the front and a single disc towards the rear. In addition to ABS, the C 400 GT also gets Automatic Stability Control (ASC) for a better grip and stability at the rear wheel on low traction surfaces. Furthermore, BMW has also equipped the scooter with revamped clutch springs for a smooth response from the transmission.
