After a lot of teaser images and videos, Tata Motors has finally revealed the Harrier ahead of its early 2019 launch. The dimensions of the new SUV have been revealed and the Harrier is 4598 mm in length, 1894 mm in width and 1706 mm in height. It comes with a wheelbase of 2741 mm and gets a ground clearance of 205 mm. The fuel tank capacity of the Harrier is 50-litres. The SUV weighs 1675 kgs and gets 235/65/17 tyres on the range toping XZ variant. The boot space is 425-litres which can be extended to 810-litres when the rear seat is folded.
Powering the Tata Harrier is a Fiat sourced 2.0-litre, Kryotec 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 140 PS of power at 3750 RPM and 350 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 RPM. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Harrier gets Multi-Drive Modes which includes City, Sport and Eco modes. The SUV also gets 3 ESP Terrain Response settings – Normal, Wet and Rough.
Suspension duties are taken care by independent McPherson strut with coil spring and anti-roll bar at the front and a semi-independent twist blade for the rear. Tata has provided disc brakes at the front while the rear gets drum brakes with ABS. It gets a hydraulic power steering.
Some of the features include 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 9 JBL speakers and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, HID Xenons, 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, 60:40 fold rear seat, cruise control, climate control, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.
The safety features of the Harrier includes dual front airbags, seat side airbags, curtain airbags, ISOFIX mounts, remote locking, ABS, EBD, ESP, Corner Stability Control, Off-Road ABS, Traction Control, ESC, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, Roll Over Mitigation, Hydraulic Brake Assist and Dynamic Wheel Torque by Brake.
