Royal Enfield Brand continues to soar high in the motorcycle world. The recent announcement of Royal Enfield taking part in the American Flat Track in August points to their rising prominence. The company is believed to debut the 650 FT (Flat Tracker) Concept motorcycle, as it will compete in the Production Twins class on 28th and 29th of August 2020. According to media reports, the 650 Flat Tracker will mostly be ridden by 31-year-old racer and flat-track teacher, Johnny Lewis. The FT Concept bike was developed in joint collaboration between Royal Enfield and Harris efficiency. The Enfield 650 FT was earlier scheduled to debut in March at the Daytona AFT but the COVID-19 crisis delayed its unveiling. It is being said that Lewis will also go on a ride-along with four female participants of the ‘Build Train Race’ program with their custom Interceptor 650 at the Dixie Speedway on 15th and 16th of October 2020.

Talking about the Concept motorcycle, it is based on the Interceptor 650 with modifications for improving performance and flat track abilities. The 650 FT employs a customized brazed steel tube frame with an adjustable steering head angle. The entrance forks of the 650 FT are 41mm upside-down Ohlins while the rear suspension duty will be handled by Ohlins TTX monoshock. The motorcycle will sport customized 19-inch alloy wheels shod with Dunlop rubber. As for brakes, the front ones have been removed while the rear employ a twin-pot calliper.

Going by the image, the designers have rerouted the exhaust as it can now be found below the seat.  Futher, the engine is believed to have been rebored in order to make it a 750cc from the initial 650cc by S & S Cycles. Apart from this detail, Royal Enfield has not revealed the actual pefromance figures from this engine modification. Though if we are to talk about the stock Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 power figure, then the engine delivers 47 bhp of power and 52 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox with a slipper clutch.
