Jeep is an American carmaker that was established in 1943. It was taken over by the Chrysler brand in 1987 and is now owned by Stellantis, a European-American conglomerate.

The SUV-manufacturer made its Indian entry in 2016 with the launch of the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler, which were brought into the nation via the CBU route. The firm subsequently introduced the Compass compact SUV in April 2017 and is produced at FCA's plant in Ranjangaon, located close to Pune, Maharashtra. The same plant also produces export-version models of Compass that are exported to other RHD markets.
