Tata Tigor and Tiago are the products of the Tata Kite 5 project. Tata Tigor is the successor of Tata Zest. Through the Kite project, Tata introduced modern compact cars at affordable prices to the Indian market. Tigor is a subcompact sedan with four doors launched in March 2017.In the past year 2020, Tata has sold around 10,000 tigor.
Tigor has been officially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. Powered by a 1.2-liter Revotron three-cylinder 12V engine, the Tata Tigor petrol variant is built on the Tata X1 platform.
With 1.1-liter Revotorq three-cylinder common rail engines that produce 70 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque for the diesel versions, it includes a five-speed manual transmission. Tata launched the JTP version of Tigor in October 2018. Tata claimed a pick-up speed of 0 - 100 km/h in 10 seconds for this model.
The facelift version of Tata Tigor was launched in October 2018. There were changes in the front headlights, grille along with the chrome. Even the seat colours have been changed and alloy wheels were added. Most importantly TATA added a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system in Tigor. It is compatible with both Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) has rated Tata Tigor 4 out of 5.
The latest version is loaded with a couple of newly added features and some design upgrades. Moreover, it offers a BS6 compliant engine with petrol and diesel options. Tata Tigor is inspired by the IMPACT 2.0 design concept. It has the footprints of Altroz in the form of the protruding grille and wraparound headlamps.
The front bumper is redesigned with horizontal line structures for air vents. The fog lights are clubbed with a new pair of daytime running lights. The BS6 compliant version offers six-speed levels of manual and AMT transmission. Tata Tigor is available in Deep Red, Arizona Blue, Pure Silver, Pearlescent White and Daytona Grey colours.
There is a rearview camera with rear parking sensors and surround system which consists of eight speakers which support Radio, AUX, USB and Bluetooth. When it comes to safety, Tata cars outshine the most. It seems now Tata has focused also on the comfort side, Tigor is well equipped with comfortable seats to provide you with a cosy ride. Also, it has ample cabin space.
