Hero MotoCorp is an Indian based company known for manufacturing efficiency and durable commuter motorcycles. Initially, Hero was started as a bicycle manufacturing company named ‘Hero Cycles’ in the year 1956 in Ludhiana, Punjab. Hero cycles soon became one of the key manufacturers of bicycles all over India. The company ventured into motorcycle production in the year 1984, when it collaborated with the Japanese manufacturer Honda Motors. The alliance started a separate company under the name Hero Honda and started selling bikes in the Indian market.
Durability, efficiency and stylish design became the ultimate success mantra for the company to become the top seller in the Indian market. The company began dominating the sales in the Indian market with breakthrough models at an affordable price. Hero Honda dominated the sales of the Indian market for more than two decades with bikes such as Passion, CD and most importantly Splendor. In 2010, the Hero Honda collaboration came to an end due to internal disputes which led to the formation of Hero MotoCorp.
The Splendor was first launched in the year 1994 as a successor to the CD 100; the bike became an overnight sensation due to its unconventional design and performance. Moreover, it became the longest selling bike in the Indian market. Currently, the bike updated version of the bike is being sold all over India named Splendor Plus.
The bike carries the baton of the traditional Hero Honda design, but there are some minor changes that make the bike look different. It has a sleek body with high-quality graphic and paints job. Hero Splendor also gets a stylish muffler that makes the bike a bit more modernized. The headlamp cluster has a simple formation with powerful lamps incorporated that offer better visibility even during the night. For riding comfort, the seat of the bikes has been designed with a well-padded single seat which can easily accommodate a driver and a pillion.
The bike runs on the Air-Cooled, 4-Stroke Single Cylinder, OHC which has the capacity to generate maximum power upto 8.36 PS @8000 rpm and maximum torque upto 8.05 Nm @ 5000 rpm. For fuel efficiency and performance, the engine of the bike has been mated to a 4 Speed transmission. To make the bike easy to control there is a 130 mm drum brake at the front and 110 mm drum brake unit at the rear.
