EcoSport has been the key car model in Ford’s portfolio since its launch in 2014. The model transformed the way compact SUV segment works in India. Compact SUV segment has quickly become the highest growing segment of the current Indian car market. EcoSport’s contribution is immense which can be seen through numbers as this Ford model has been the highest selling Ford car in India for the past three years. Since its initial launch, this car model has received numerous upgrades with the current stage, marking the peak in the product lifecycle. Just a month ago, Ford launched around 11 variants of EcoSport; all of which have been competitively priced. The facelifted EcoSport was unveiled at the LA Auto show last year and has finally made its way into the Indian market.

Ford EcoSport’s makeover sees the car get a facelift which brings an exciting fresh fascia and updated rear. The hexagonal grille which was blemish earlier is now reworked. Much of which can be accredited to the elimination of thin strip on the main grille. The front bumper of the EcoSport has been completely redesigned with larger fog lamps and LED DRLs. Similar cannot be said of headlights as they retain the same shape except they are quite bigger. To add to this visual treat, this ford car model gets 17-inch alloy wheels.
A considerable amount of changes can be seen in the interior as well with the large floating infotainment screen atop the centre console being the most prominent one. Talk about variation, the manufacturer is offering options for touchscreen infotainment as buyers can choose either a 6.5-inch or an 8-inch system depending upon the trim level. SYNC3 Connectivity – Ford’s system features Android Auto integration and Apple CarPlay which offer an all-in-one smartphone connectivity. Other standard features include cruise control, climate control, automatic control, glove box illumination, tyre pressure monitoring system and rain-sensing wipers to name a few. As for safety, the car model comes with standard ABS and EBD.
Under the hood, the facelifted Ford EcoSport offers a 1.5-litre-three-pot petrol engine which churns out 120bhp @6,500rpm of power and generates 150Nm@4500rpm of torque. The engines are mated to either a five-speed or a six-speed automatic transmission depending upon the trim you select. Talking about the diesel engine, EcoSport possesses a 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine which rakes out 99bhp@3750rpm of power and generates torque of 205Nm@1750rpm.

Ford EcoSport on road price considering price after GST is between INR 7.3 to 11 lakh. The entry-level variant Ford EcoSport Ambiente 1.5L Ti-VCT is priced at INR 7.31 lakh whereas the top-end trim Ford EcoSport Titanium + 1.5L Ti-VCT AT is priced at INR 10.99 lakh. Therefore Ford EcoSport price falls in the same category as that of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra TUV300, Honda WR-V and recently launched Tata Nexon.
