Carberry (Dream Engines and Manufacturers {DEM}) is an upcoming bike brand in the international market; the origins of the brand can be confusing as the company is owned by Jaspreet Singh Bhatia of India and Paul Carberry of Australia. The aim of both the owners is to revive the old Carberry motors that were shut down in the year 2011.The brand gained popularity in the international market due to the V-twin engine and the cruiser body type.
Carberry has used the V-twin from the iconic Royal Enfield, but only for the top components. The bottom had to be modified so that it would accommodate Carberry’s V-twin engine and all the other parts made by the company. The custom-built 1000 cc V-Twin, air-cooled, push-rod, four valve motor comes with a bore and stroke of 84 mm and 90 mm respectively. The bike is reported to generate power of 56.32 bhp at 4800 rpm and 108 Nm of peak torque at 5250 rpm. The engine is carbureted, but it does match the CO2 emission levels of India, i.e. the Bharat Stage IV (BS-IV) emission norms. A fuel-injected version is reportedly in the pipeline and will be offered soon as well.
The chassis of the bike has been taken from Royal Enfield, but the company reassures that the bike will be much stronger. The chassis will be strengthened with higher grade tubes, while the wheelbase will also be increased for a more stable and confident ride. In addition, the motorcycle comes equipped with electric start that makes the bike convenient for people to start. It is helpful as the bike features hydraulic lifters, heavier crank as well as rear disc brakes. The brand has overtaken the much popular Indian brand Royal Enfield by launching the 1000cc engine.
Carberry is one of the most awaited brands in the Indian market. The upcoming Carberry superbikes could be a breakthrough innovation in two-wheeler market of India due to their superior performance.
