The South Korean car manufacturer Kia has recently launched the EV9 premium electric SUV in the Indian market at an ex-showroom price of INR 1.29 crore (ex-showroom). In the brand’s lineup, the EV9 electric SUV is the most expensive model at the moment. This electric offering is also the brand’s flagship product in India, and it takes inspiration from the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
The Kia EV9 won the title of 2024 World Car of the Year. Kia first showcased the EV9 electric SUV as a prototype at the Auto Expo 2023. The production version shares similarities with the concept form. It features a comfortable cabin with three-row powered seats, second-row captain seats, and a dual sunroof.

The car’s cabin is packed with amenities like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a dual electric sunroof, an illuminated steering wheel emblem, electrically adjustable captain seats at the back, a head-up display, 3-zone climate control, a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, and more.
The interior of the Kia EV9 is packed with Kia Connect 2.0, which provides Kia Connect 2.0, remote vehicle control, and seamless connectivity with advanced devices. Over-the-air (OTA) software updates guarantee that software upgrades can be carried out without requiring a visit to the dealership.

For passenger safety, Kia is offering the EV9 SUV with a safety package under which buyers will get features like downhill brake control, 10 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, ABS, a 360-degree camera, ESC, VSM, and parking sensors, and Level 2 ADAS features like lane departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, avoidance assist, lane keep assist, and high beam assist.

When it comes to dimensions, the Kia measures 1,980 mm in width, 5,015 mm in length, and 1,780 mm in height. The electric car has a wheelbase of 3,100 mm and a ground clearance of 198 mm, which makes it capable of handling rough terrain.

The India-spec Kia EV9 is powered by a 99.8kWh battery pack. It houses an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup followed by twin electric motors. The units can churn out a peak power of 384 hp and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. The battery setup enables the electric SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 5.3 seconds. According to ARAI standards, the car provides a claimed range of 561 km on one charge. In 24 minutes, the Kia EV9 can be powered from 10 to 80 percent via a DC fast charger.
