  • The upcoming flagship electric vehicle, the Honda 0 Series Saloon, is a preview of the future.
  • The first 0 Series model will go on sale worldwide in 2026.
  • Will have ADAS functionality at Level 3.

Honda debuted two all-electric concepts at CES 2024, showcasing a new EV series that will hit international markets in 2026. The 0 Series Saloon concept, or Zero Series Saloon, was a sleek-looking sedan that was the first of these. Honda has given its new, upcoming EV range the name 0 series, and it is anticipated that these models will be sold alongside its existing and forthcoming e:N range of EVs.

According to Honda, the 0 Series Saloon serves as a preview of the company's flagship electric vehicle (EV), which will be built on a new electric vehicle platform and prioritized to provide cars with low floors, sporty dynamics, and efficient power plants. In contrast, the 0 Series Saloon has a sleek, futuristic appearance thanks to its high-set rear end, flowing roofline, and wedge-shaped nose, which gives it a nearly estate-like profile.

The nose is distinguished by a digital panel that houses a new design. The Honda "H" emblem will appear on EVs in the future. The panel gives the concept's fascia a three-dimensional appearance by giving the impression that the unit is inset relative to the sedan's nose thanks to the graphics. Compared to the short bonnet, the main headlamps are positioned higher up the nose and appear to be integrated into the base of the windshield.

Similar to the front, the back also has an illuminated panel with light rings and a 3D effect, with the word Honda positioned in the center. Along with the low-set windscreen blending into a panoramic glass roof that extends to the back of the passenger cell, the concept also includes an expansive glass house. The two enormous gullwing doors that run across the entirety of the passenger cabin are what really make the concept stand out.

Now let's talk about the cabin. This concept has four seats, each with its own seat. According to Honda, the concept has a steer-by-wire system, which means the front wheels are not directly connected to the steering. The driver is greeted by the yoke-style steering that protrudes from the dashboard. Digital screens are visible on the passenger side and close to the center console, contributing to the overall minimalist design.

Honda says that “the instrument panel features a human-machine interface (HMI) that enables simple and intuitive operations, realizing a sophisticated and seamless user interface.”

Other than affirming that all 0 Series models will have e-axles—a motor, inverter, and gearbox integrated into the car's axle—Honda has not yet disclosed any information about the powertrain. It also affirmed the implementation of high-density lightweight battery packs and fast charging for its new EV series, with rates of 15 to 80 percent completed in as little as 15 minutes.

Additionally, Honda announced that all 0 Series models will include Honda Sensing Elite, a level 3 driver assistance system that is presently exclusive to the Honda Legend in a few international markets. Additionally, the cars will be able to drive "hands-off" in a variety of situations thanks to an AI system that is installed on board and uses driver preferences to adjust the vehicle.
