The Chinese automaker BYD disclosed in an official press release that it has achieved a new milestone by delivering 200 Seal electric sedan units across India in just one day. The EV maker launched the Seal EV in India on March 5, 2024, at an initial ex-showroom cost of INR 41 lakh. The new Seal model instantly attracted a lot of buyers with its outstanding looks and attractive price range.

BYD has received over 1,000 bookings for the electric sedan in just two months since its launch. The company organized mega delivery events on May 26, and they took place in key cities like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi. In India, the car manufacturer retails models like the Atto 3, Seal, and e6. BYD Seal is the brand’s third product in the Indian market.

The BYD Seal EV comes with two battery pack options: an 82.56 kWh unit and a 61.44 kWh unit. It is available in three variants: Premium, Dynamic, and Performance. In addition, the sedan delivers an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 650 km on one charge. The car can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds. It is based on e-Platform 3.0 and features a host of technologies, including NFC card integration, cell-to-body (CTB), advanced suspension systems, Level 2 ADAS, intelligent Torque Adaptation Control (iTAC), and more.

In terms of features, the all-electric Seal sedan comes equipped with traction control, nine airbags, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, a powered front seat followed by heating and ventilated functions, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and twin-zone climate control. The higher variants of the sedan also pack technologies like a head-up display, a driver seat memory function, a torque vectoring system, and adaptive dampers.

Under the hood, the sedan receives two two-rear wheel drive options, where the base Dynamic variant features an electric motor that provides a power of 201 bhp and torque of 310 Nm, whereas the e-motor equipped in the Premium variant churns out robust power of 308 bhp and 360 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the top-spec Performance trim is powered by a dual-motor setup that generates a combined power of 523 bhp and peak torque of 670 Nm.
