BYD Seal Crosses 500 Booking Milestone in India in Just 15 Days Since Launch

Build Your Dreams (BYD) has announced that it has received over 500 orders for its recently launched Seal EV in India. The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer launched the BYD Seal in India on March 5, and within just 2 weeks of its market introduction, it has managed to attract more than 500 Indian customers. The EV comes in three variants: Premium, Dynamic, and Performance. The Dynamic trim is available at a price of INR 41 lakh, while the Premium variant is priced at INR 45.55 lakh. The BYD Seal Performance variant comes at a price of INR 53 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. The Seal EV is currently competing for the 2024 World Car of the Year title and has also been shortlisted as one of the three finalists.

Customers who reserve the electric car before March 31, 2024, will get several benefits like a complimentary inspection service, 6 years of roadside assistance, installation service, a 7 kW home charger, a VTOL (Vehicle to Load) mobile power supply unit, and a 3 kW portable charging box. The auto manufacturer will offer the new Seal in four color schemes: Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, and Artic Blue. The electric car has already scored a 5-star rating in Euro NCAP and ANCAP crash tests.

The new BYD Seal is a 4-door coupe-style electric sedan. It measures 1,875 mm in width, 4,800 mm in length, and 1,460 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,920 mm and a boot space of 400-litre. Under the hood, it has a storage space of 53 litres. Built on the brand’s e-platform 3.0, the EV adopts an 800V electrical architecture platform, which distinguishes it from other BYD models.

The Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, Mr. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, stated, “We are confident of our product, of our pricing and are pleased to see the response it has generated in the market. We did hit the 200 bookings mark soon after launch, within 15 days, we have registered 500 bookings. It goes to show that Indian customers are keen on competitively priced and stylish solutions for sustainable motoring. We already offer a premium electric MPV with the All-New e6 and an electric born E-SUV with the BYD ATTO 3. The latest BYD SEAL further widens our portfolio in India with an electric sport sedan that’s stylish and luxurious."

Apart from the Seal electric sedan, the auto giant also retails the e6 and Atto 3 in the Indian market. BYD is planning to expand its sales and service network and cover 90 percent of the Indian automotive market. The brand aims to provide its customers with access to EV technology by expanding its network in the country.
