Bengaluru-based EV startup is prepping up to launch its flagship electric scooter dubbed as Mark 2 on August 15, 2021, in the country. The electric scooter will initially be introduced in Bengaluru followed by Hyderabad and Chennai. It was earlier scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2021. But due to Covid’19 lockdown, the plan had to be pushed back. Once launched, Mark 2 will rival the likes of Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, and TVS iQube Electric




"We are thrilled to be announcing the launch date. 15th August is a significant milestone for the nation, Simple Energy aims at creating history with a world-class product made by an Indian company. Due to the ongoing second wave of COVID-19, we have chosen this date by hoping that the situation would get better. We look forward to the remarkable journey ahead," as commented by Suhas Rajkumar, Founder, and CEO, Simple Energy. 




Besides these, Simple Energy has set up its R & D centre in Bengaluru. The manufacturing facility with a claimed production capacity of 50,000 per year is also expected to come up there. As for the price, we can expect it to fall in the range of Rs 1.10 lakh - Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). 




Talking about Simple Energy Mark 2, it is a compact and sporty-looking e-scooter. Design-wise, it features an LED headlamp. The instrument console comes with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. Performance-wise, Mark 2 comes with a mid-drive motor paired with a removable 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The battery offers a maximum range of 240 km on a single charge. Simple Energy claims that Mark 2 comes with a top speed of 100 kmph. It can further accelerate from 0-50 kmph in merely 3.6 seconds.
