Hyundai Venue, the South-Korean automaker's entry-level SUV, received an all new BS6 compliant diesel powerplant in the Indian market. The BS6 emission norms came into effect from April 1, 2020 in India. The company also updated the existing BS4 compliant 1.2L and 1.0L petrol engines to the BS6 emission level. Our friends at AutoCar India have now revealed the mileage of both the BS6 petrol engines of the sub-compact SUV. Hyundai Venue takes on the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport in India.

Hyundai Venue's naturally aspirated BS6 1.2L petrol engine is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission while it returns a fuel efficiency of 17.30kmpl which is nearly 0.22kmpl lower than the earlier BS4 variant. On the other hand, the BS6 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DCT automatic unit. The manual variant delivers mileage of 18.10kmpl which is around 0.17kmpl lesser than the BS4 counterpart while the automatic variant gives 18kmpl which is approx. 0.15kmpl lower than the BS4 variant. All these figures are ARAI certified figures and it can be noticed that the mileage of BS6 compliant models have gone down a bit as compared to the BS4 models.

Hyundai Venue BS6 is now the second SUV in its segment after Maruti Vitara Brezza with petrol-automatic configuration to offer a fuel economy of 18kmpl. The Vitara Brezza has the best-in-segment mileage of 18.76kmpl due to the SHVS mild-hybrid system. Even the Venue's 1.2L petrol engine has second best mileage in its segment after the Nexon's 17.40kmpl. Hyundai India didn't just update the Venue with BS6 compliant engines but also added an Alternator Management System (AMS) to reduce the engine load with the base E and mid-level S variants. The SX grade got a tyre pressure monitoring system (TMPS), while the range-topping SX+ (automatic only) and SX(O) variants were equipped with an additional 12V power outlet.
