Auto Expo Dates Revealed; These Models Will Hold Limelight at Upcoming Show

Cars to Look Out for at Auto Expo 2020

The dates for Auto Expo are out and the great motor gala of India will take place between 7-11 February 2020. Just like every other iteration of the event, one can expect to see plethora of models on display at the event and while some among them will be concepts that will take a long time to come to the market, others will be near ready production models or even launches that the public will witness at the event. Therefore, we have compiled a list of models that you need to look out for at the Auto Expo 2020.

Mahindra Thar

A full model change for the popular lifestyle SUV is in order. The new Thar will be built on an all-new platform which will lead to an increase in size of the SUV. The engine on the new model of That will also be replaced with a new 2L engine being developed by brand. New model of Thar will comply with both BNVSAP and BS-VI norms. Apart from these a lot of feature upgrades and new features will be seen on the SUV. These may include an infotainment system, front facing rear seats, and hardtop factory variant. 

Tata H2X

Tata H2X will take on Mahindra KUV100 and Maruti Ignis in India. Also referred to as Hornbill in the past, this micro SUV will sit below Nexon in company’s lineup and will be placed as value-for-money product. The public will get to see the production model of H2X at the 2020 Auto Expo in India and as far as the launch goes it is slated for a 2020 launch in India. The IMPACT 2.0 styling of the brand will arm it with good looks and the under hood department may see the micro-SUV featuring the same petrol engine seen on Tata Tiago in the Indian market.

Hyundai Creta

South Korean carmaker Hyundai had recently unveiled the next-generation model of their Creta at the Shanghai Motor Show in China. The updated model comes with a host of changes that are not just limited to the exteriors of the SUV. The compact SUV will make its way to the 2020 Auto Expo in India as well. The 2020 Creta had already been spied testing multiple times, the company will also make the upcoming generation of Hyundai Creta compliant to the upcoming BS-VI emission norms.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara

The largest automaker of the Indian market is all geared up to bring the Vitara back on the Indian roads once again. Recent spyshots have also come up that show the Vitara being tested in the country sans camouflage. The spyshots show the Vitara without any camouflage and grille and with temp number plates. There are hopes that the brand is testing the vehicle before it will be finally launched in the Indian market. Vitara comes with 3 engine options in the global market but the Indian specifications are still not known.

Tata Blackbird

The company has shelved its plans to bring a sedan in Indian market and is instead working on an all new compact SUV – Blackbird – that will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. There are reports on the internet stating that the Indian maker may join hands with a Chinese maker – Chery – for the platform of Blackbird, but nothing is confirmed as of now. Tata needs to fill the coveted gap between the sub-4 meter Nexon and 4.6 meter Harrier in the Indian market and it is expected to do the same with Blackbird.

Mahindra Scorpio

A full model change is in order for the most well-known SUV in the Indian market. Completely revamped exteriors and interiors are likely to be seen on new version of Scorpio. This SUV will likely to share engine and platform with the new model of Thar with the new engine likely to deliver around 140 Bhp. New model of Scorpio will also follow BNVSAP and BS-VI regulations.

Kia Grand Carnival

After Seltos, the next vehicle that the brand will bring to the Indian market may be the Carnival MPV which will take on the highly revered Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market. Now new reports have emerged on the internet stating that the brand may launch the Carnival MPV in the Indian market during the 2020 Auto Expo of India. The report further states that the upcoming Carnival MPV will be a facelifted model and not the model which is on sale right now.

Honda City

The Japanese brand is expected to update their one time best selling sedan in the Indian market to take on renewed rivalry from the likes of Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. One can expect the next update of City to bring a lot of changes to the car and an Accord inspired look for the sedan in the Indian market. 

Honda Jazz

The new model of the Honda Jazz will be presented in front of the public at 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, which is scheduled to happen in October. As far as the India launch is concerned, it can take place sometime in 2020. The company will take the hybrid route with the Jazz hatch, and there are hopes that the premium hatchback will come with the i-MMD dual-motor hybrid power system, something similar to what is seen on Accord and HR-V in global markets.

Hyundai Elite i20

One can expect new engine options to make an appearance on the next gen model of South Korean maker’s premium hatchback. Design tweaks and other changes also will be seen on the new generation model of the Elite i20 to lend the car sharper and aggressive look on Indian roads. Camouflaged model of the new generation of Elite i20 has already been spied testing in India.
