The all-new 2021 Hyundai Elantra has been officially unveiled in Hollywood  with deliveries starting next month in South Korea. The India launch though will take place somewhere around second half of 2021. Though, America would get it a bit earlier than India, i.e. around Q4 2020. Being codenamed as Hyundai CN7, the seventh-gen Elantra will be introduced in a hybrid avatar for the first time. It gets several cosmetic updates to the exterior while coming with a plethora of new tech connectivity features.

To start with, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra is based on the third-gen K3 architecture which makes it lighter and more fuel efficient than the current model. The overall length, width and height stand at 4650mm, 1825mm and 1420mm, respectively while the wheelbase measures 2720mm. As far as styling goes, it flaunts a razor-sharp profile with a massive Parametric Jewel front grille which is complimented well by the stretched upswept headlamps. The sedan also boasts of an angular bumper while the tail lamps have been connected through a full-width light strip which makes the Hyundai 'H' logo appear like flying. Not to forget, the 2021 Elantra sedan gets a ducktail spoiler.

The cabin has been exquisitely designed and very rightly, Hyundai has named it as ‘Immersive Cocoon’. The company designers have integrated the super-sleek dashboard, centre console and floor console to produce a floating effect. The AC vents are elongated and give a feel of luxury executive sedans. There is a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster which is integrated into a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, something which we have already seen in Mercedes Benz cars. The buttons and controls have been designed in an upward manner so that they are not visible from distance. The sedan comes with a low centre of gravity to improve the overall handling.

Mechanically, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra will be offered with a couple of petrol engines in the Korean market. It will get the twin 1.6L petrol engines which develop almost identical power and torque figures. However, one of the engines is available with an LPG option as well. The America-spec sedan will draw power from a 2.0L MPi petrol engine in tune of 147bhp and 179Nm while paired to a CVT auto gearbox. Coming to the much talked about hybrid variant, it will have a 1.6L GDi engine at the helm with a 32 kW electric motor which will source power from a 1.32 kWh battery pack. The total power output and torque performance will be 140bhp and 264Nm with a mileage of 21.26kmpl. The engine will be linked to a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
