About Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai Elantra – Hyundai’s premium sedan has been competing in the market for some time now. The Hyundai Elantra took over the reins from Hyundai Sonata and currently is in its sixth generation right now. A global bestseller – Elantra first stumbled into the Indian market and then went on to become the segment leader leaving Corolla behind. Elantra over the years has received numerous upgrades, and the latest one gave the model an entirely new avatar which makes it aesthetically irresistible and technologically advanced. There is a growing interest from the potential customers who wish to own this D-segment car model which comes with an evolutionary design. The next generation Elantra widens the options available to the premium car buyers.

Having understood the overview, let us jump towards the comprehensive Hyundai Elantra review:

Exterior:

The Hyundai Elantra is built on a new platform and is now wider and longer. At the fascia, the Hyundai Elantra gets horizontally slatted hexagonal grille. Elantra’s headlamps come with LED DRLs and boomerang-shaped mesh vents on the damn air housing for the fog lamps. Elantra gets a coupish treatment on the roofline which is chiselled in the boot to give tail lamps an amazing look.

Interior:

On the inside, the Hyundai Elantra is dressed in beige and black hues which give it a different look than the global car model. The global model comes equipped with a black and silver accent interior. Similar to other Hyundai car models, the Elantra is stuffed with features as well. Some standard features in all variants include rain-sensing wipers, push-start button, dimming internal mirrors and electrically foldable wing mirrors. The top variant also gets ventilated front seats which many premium sedans miss out on. As for the safety features, Hyundai Elantra comes with ABS and EBD standard across all variants along with dual front airbags. The top trim gets the option of six airbags. Another noteworthy feature includes automatic transmission which comes with electronic stability program along with hill hold control.

Specifications:

Under the hood, Hyundai Elantra gets a 1.6-litre diesel engine which comes with the four-cylinder turbocharged engine churns out 126bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with an additional six-speed automatic option. The petrol variant also features a new 2.0-litre inline four cylinder engine which churns out the power of 150bhp @6200rpm and generates torque of 192Nm @4000rpm. This engine too is mated to the six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic torque converter transmission similar to that of Creta.

Variants:

Hyundai Elantra is available in 9 variants – 4 diesel variants and 5 petrol variants. The diesel variants include 1.6 S, 1.6 SX, 1.6 SX OPTION, 1.6 SX OPTION AT. The petrol variants include 2.0 S, 2.0 SX, 2.0 SX AT, 2.0 SX OPTION and 2.0 SX OPTION AT.

Price:

As for the Hyundai Elantra on road price, the entry-level variant is priced at INR 13.5 lakh considering price after GST whereas the top trim is priced at INR 20.5 lakh considering price after GST. Hyundai Elantra price and specifications make it a direct competitor of Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta and Skoda Octavia.
