Tata HBX Electric

Tata HBX is one of the most anticipated product launches in Indian market in 2020. The company had showcased it at the 2020 Auto Expo and recently, it was spotted testing by one of ElectricVehicleWeb readers in Pune. It has been further reported that Tata HBX will have an all-electric version, which is going to be India's most affordable electric car. The HBX micro-SUV will be positioned between Tiago and Altroz while it officially launches in early 2021 with challengers like Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 in the country.

Tata HBX was premiered at the 2020 Auto Expo in almost production-ready avatar and the report says that the company has retained 90 percent of the Concept elements into the production version. Being based on the ALFA platform as the Tata Altroz and codenamed as Tata Hornbill, it will also have a fully electric variant with Ziptron technology at the helm of affairs on the lines of Nexon EV. The spy-shots suggest that the spied mule is a range-topping XZ or XZ+ variant with styling features like roof-rails, rear spoiler & wiper, and squared tail-lamps. A tiny air curtain is also visible in the gap between the front grille and wheel arch. It carries the similar split headlamp setup with DRLs at top while the main headlamp is at bottom. The round fog lamp units and tri-arrow layout is also there on the bumper.

The cabin is likely to feature a floating 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Smartphone connectivity and ZConnect suite. Tata Motors might also offer an 8-speaker sound system with the top-end variants. Mechanically, besides the BS6 compliant 1.2L Revotron petrol engine from Tiago, it will also get an electric variant with a range exceeding 300 kilometers. The standard warranty on the battery is going to be 8 years as with Nexon EV and Altroz EV. Tata Motors has also been working on a C-segment sedan in order to compete against the likes of Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. It will also be built on the ALFA architecture and an all electric variant in on cards. The media reports suggest that it could be named as Tata Peregrin.
