Tata Motors has ultimately launched the Punch EV, its one of the remarkable second electric sports utility vehicles in EV line-up in India, at an introductory price of INR 10.99 Lakh (ex-showroom). The car model is currently available in 4 distinct variants- Empowered, Smart, Empowered+, and Adventure where the price of Punch EV touches the mark of INR 14.49 Lakh (ex-showroom) for top-most variant. Tata Motors recently opened up the bookings for the electric Punch. Prospective customers can reserve the electric Punch SUV via Tata’s brand-new EV-only dealerships or even via the automaker’s official website for a mere token amount of INR 21,000. The deliveries for the EV model will commence from next month onwards.
Punch EV is the 4th EV from the brand, and only the 2nd model in its lineup to be available is all CNG, ICE, and even full-electric version. Alongside other EV models sold off by Tata Motors in the country, only Tigor is available with a complete range of powertrains. Punch is also the automaker’s 2nd sports utility vehicle after Nexon to acquire electric powertrain.
Tata Motors announced earlier this month that the Punch EV SUV will be the first vehicle in its EV lineup to be built on the brand-new Acti.EV Gen-2 Pure EV platform. According to the brand, the architecture is far safer and was made with materials that are extremely strong. In order to maintain the Punch EV SUV's performance on hazardous tracks, the brand has also redesigned the new EV platform to carve out plenty of interior space and maintain 190 mm of ground clearance and inclination angles.

The Punch EV SUV's dimensions are unchanged from the ICE or CNG models. In addition, the front face of the SUV Punch EV is nearly identical to that of the Nexon EV facelift that was introduced the previous year. It has a closed grille, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and LED daytime running lights with sleek LED headlights up front. Additionally, the Punch EV SUV is the first electric car in India to have a full trunk that can hold 14 liters of storage under the hood. This area is separate from the car's 366 liters.

A mid-long-range battery pack version of the Punch EV was unveiled by Tata Motors. The larger battery unit has a capacity of 35kWh, while the smaller one has a capacity of 25kWh. The automaker developed these wider, higher density cell battery packs specifically for its new Gen-2 Pure EV platform. These contribute to an approximately 10% increase in EV range.
According to Tata, the mid-range Punch EV model can travel up to 315 km on a single charge, while the top-end model, which has a larger battery, can travel up to 421 km before requiring a recharge. There are two charging options available for the Punch EV, one of which is a 7.2 kW fast home charger. According to Tata, an EV can be charged with 50 kW DC fast chargers from 10% to 80% capacity in less than an hour.
Performance-wise, the Punch EV mid-range variant can produce up to 80 bhp of power and 114 Nm of maximum torque. With 120 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque, the electric SUV with longer range is likewise more potent. The electric SUV has a top speed of 140 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.5 seconds.
Punch EV will have a greater feature set than its ICE and CNG counterparts. It comes with leatherette seats, an air purifier, front row seat ventilation, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a similarly sized digital instrument cluster. Other features of the electric SUV include a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, wireless charging, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The electric SUV has six airbags as standard equipment on all versions, an electronic parking brake, an ESP, and an auto-hold feature. As an optional feature, Tata also offers an electric sunroof with Punch EV.
Tata Punch EV will be offered in 5 different exterior color alternatives. This list includes Fearless Red, Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Seaweed Green and Empowered Oxide. All these colors will be given as part of a dual-tone exterior theme which will be offered with a blacked-out roof.
