  • Tata Altroz will be showcased in the stadium at all three venues in the UAE

Indian Premier League (IPL) is beginning from 19 September 2020 after several delays and deliberations. The COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world in early January by paralyzing all the sporting events and IPL was no exception. Finally, IPL comes to the fore and will be played across three venues - Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. It is one of the biggest sporting events in the world with brands vying for the place in the sponsorship lists. Tata Motors announced its association with Dream11 IPL for the 2020 Edition. The Indian automaker's partnership with IPL began in 2018 with Nexon while last year, the Harrer was the official partner. This time, the baton has been passed on to the premium hatchback as it will be the Official Partner for Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Taking a look at the different Tata cars who were the official partners of the IPL for the last 3 years.

2018 IPL - Tata Nexon

The 11th edition of the IPL was held from 7 April to 27 May and it was notable for the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The former won the tournament by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad. It also marked the partnership of the cricketing tournament with Tata Motors for the first time. Tata Nexon became the official partner for the 2018 IPL T20. A subcompact SUV, it first arrived in India in 2017 and partnership with IPL gave the Nexon a good platform. Earlier this year, Tata Nexon received the BS6 update and comes with two powertrains - 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The petrol motor delivers 120 bhp of maximum power output and 170 Nm of peak torque performance. The diesel unit belts out 110 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. The manufacturer offers a six-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. Tata Nexon petrol price starts from Rs 6.99 Lakhs while the diesel variants retail at an introductory price of Rs 8.45 Lakhs. Both the prices are Ex-Showroom, India. Tata Nexon rivals in India are Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and the upcoming Kia Sonet.

The season commenced late from March 23 with Mumbai Indians winning the title. Tata Motors continued its association with the premier cricketing event, albeit with the recently launched BS6 Tata Harrier, which was launched at the Auto Expo 2020.
