Czech automaker, Skoda Auto India today announced the arrival of Rapid Rider Plus that would further expand its model range. The Skoda Rapid Rider Plus will offer additional features over the normal Rider variant that was recently discontinued. Priced at Rs 7.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom, pan India), the Rapid Rider Plus will compete with the likes of just launched 5th Generation Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento in its segment. About Rs 50,000 more expensive than the Rapid Rider, Rider Plus offers extra black and silver design elements, a dual-tone ebony sand interior, 16.51-cm color touchscreen infotainment system and a 1.0L TSI motor.

Talking about the additional features that are made available on the outside include decorative side foils, window chrome garnish, glossy black B-pillars and a trunk lip garnish. The 'Drive' touchscreen unit is compatible with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other interior features include dust and pollen filter, adjustable dual rear AC vents, 12 V power socket in front and rear centre console, height and length adjustable multifunction steering wheel, adjustable headrests, foldable armrests, central locking system with remote control, multi-functional display etc. to name.

With a new 1.0 litre TSI petrol engine under the hood, the Skoda Rapid Rider Plus produces 5 percent more power and 14 percent more torque than the earlier 1.6L MPi petrol motor. According to the company its fuel efficiency has increased by around 23 percent. About the motor itself, the 999cc 3-cylinder unit delivers a power output of 108 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty is handled by a 6-speed manual transmission while its fuel efficiency stands at 18.97 kmpl. Skoda Rapid Rider Plus safety features are top-notch as it comes packed with dual airbags, anti-lock braking system, Parktronic rear parking sensors, anti-glare interior rear view mirror, rear windscreen defogger with timer, height adjustable three-point seatbelts at the front, rough road package, fuel supply cut off in a crash, and engine immobilizer with floating code system.
