Apart from the new Mercedes-Benz EQA, the company offers three electric models in India: EQB, EQS, and EQE. With the launch of the new electric model, the German luxury car maker is aiming to further strengthen its position in the Indian EV market. In the luxury EV segment, the EQA rivals the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo XC40 Recharge/C40 Recharge, Kia EV6, and BMW iX1.

The Mercedes-Benz EQA retains the same silhouette as the GLA SUV. However, the newly added design elements set it apart from its siblings. These include LED light bars at the rear and front, a new grille along with the 3-pointed star pattern, and wraparound LED taillights. The electric SUV rolls on 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. Mercedes-Benz is offering the EQA in seven different color options, namely Polar White Hi-Tech Silver, Mountain Grey, Cosmos Black, Spectral Blue, Mountain Grey Magno, and Patagonia Red.

For safety, the electric SUV gets advanced features like seven airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, traction control, hill-descent control, hill-hold assist, a 360-degree camera with park assist, hill-start assist, and parking sensors. Additionally, the car features advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) with features like auto emergency braking, blind spot detection, and adaptive cruise control.

Under the hood, the EQA draws power from a 70.5 kWh battery pack that is mated to a single front-wheel-drive electric motor. The unit churns out a power of 187 bhp and a peak torque of 385 Nm. The SUV provides a certified range of 560 km on one charge. The car can be fully charged in seven hours and 15 minutes with an 11 kW AC charger, whereas a 100 kW DC charger allows the car to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes.
