Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the new XUV700 AX5 Select mid-level variant in the Indian market. The new trim of the XUV700 SUV is available at a price of INR 16.89 lakh (ex-showroom). In the brand’s lineup, this variant is positioned between the AX3 and AX5 trims. The new model is INR 50,000 more expensive than the AX3 variant. The AX5 Select variant is packed with more premium features and specifications.

In the Indian market, the Mahindra XUV700 comes at a price range of INR 17 and INR 27 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available with both diesel and petrol powertrain options, along with automatic and manual transmission choices. Mahindra has also launched the XUV700 AX5 Select mid-level variant in foreign markets such as New Zealand, Nepal, South Africa, and Australia.

The newly launched XUV700 AX5 variant features a panoramic sunroof, a push-button start/stop function, and a 10.24-inch infotainment screen. It is being offered in a seven-seat layout, and customers can select both petrol and diesel engine options. In terms of features, the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 comes loaded with Apple CarPlay, AdrenoX Connect, wireless Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, LED DRLs, Follow-Me-Home headlamps, full-sized wheel covers, and six speakers with sound staging. Additionally, the car has several safety features, including ISOFIX child seat anchorages, dual front airbags, and rear parking sensors.

The company announced in a press release that “these features, typically associated with higher-end models, make the AX5 Select an excellent choice for customers looking for luxury at a more affordable price point.” The new SUV retains the same powertrain options and continues to draw power from a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel unit. The former churns out 197 bhp of power and a peak torque of 380 Nm, while the latter generates power of 154 bhp - 184 bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm - 450 Nm. The engines are mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AT gearbox.

The 7-seater trims of the XUV700 SUV compete with the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and Hyundai Alcazar, whereas the 5-seater versions rival the likes of the MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta.
