Kinetic Green has finally launched the E-Luna electric moped in the Indian market. The Pune-based electric vehicle maker has revived the iconic Luna in a new electric avatar. The Kinetic E-Luna is available at an introductory price of INR 69,990 (ex-showroom). Bookings for the new model are open for a token amount of INR 500, whereas deliveries are expected to start in the coming days via Kinetic Green’s dealerships. The manufacturer is offering the E-Luna electric in five color schemes: Ocean Blue, Sparkling Green, Mulberry Red, Pearl Yellow, and Night Star Black.

Kinetic Green started accepting pre-bookings for the new model on January 26, and it has received bookings from 40,000 buyers so far. The E-Luna comes in two variants: X1 and X2. The X1 is priced at INR 69,990 (ex-showroom), while the X2 is available at a price of INR 74,900 (ex-showroom). The production capacity of the new model is around 5,000 units per month.

The new E-Luna comes with a twin tubular high-strength steel chassis that allows the electric vehicle to carry out heavy loads or activities. The company claims that the chassis enables the new Luna to function across various terrains. The electric moped is a convenient option for the masses as it functions as a B2B and personal mobility vehicle. The new offering gets 150 kg of payload capacity along with a removable back seat that allows for a load carrier.

The founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, Sulajja Firodia Motwani, said, "The E-Luna's unveiling is a proud moment for Kinetic Green, marking a nostalgic return to Luna's legacy. E-Luna’s entry into the realm of electric mobility is nothing short of a revolution. Beyond just a vehicle launch, it represents our vision of inclusion for the future of e-mobility. Today, electric vehicles have reached only a 5 to 6 per cent penetration in the automobile market and two of the key reasons for this are that most of today’s electric vehicle options are expensive making them unaffordable for a vast majority and many of them are not suitable to ride beyond the metro or large cities, making their appeal niche and limited. This is where E-Luna emerges as a beacon of hope because, with E-Luna, electric mobility will become a practical and affordable choice for everyone and everywhere in India.”

Powering the Kinetic Green E-Luna is a 2-kWh lithium-ion battery set that provides a certified range of 110 km on one charge. The new model is also available in multiple trims that are equipped with 2 kWh, 1.7 kWh, and 3 kWh battery sets, giving the electric moped an extended range of 150 km on one charge. Additionally, the new Luna is also available with swappable batteries and fast charging options, mainly for B2B applications.

The E-Luna comes equipped with a 2.2 kW (2.9 bhp) BLDC hub motor that offers a high speed of 50 kmph. The manufacturer says that the controller, motor, and battery come with an IP67 rating, which makes them dust and water resistant. The Kinetic Green E-Luna comes loaded with features like a USB charging port, side-stand sensor, combi-braking, three riding modes, and a digital instrument console that provides a real-time DTE (Distance to Empty) indicator. The E-Luna rolls on 16-inch wire-spoked wheels, and it gets telescopic forks up front.
