Kia Motors recently unveiled the Sonet SUV globally. The SUV will be launching in September this year. A few days ago, the brochure of the SUV was leaked online, giving us most of the information regarding the features and engine specifications. The brochure also revealed that Kia Sonet will be offered in two trims namely the Tech Line and the GT Line. Furthermore, the Tech Line trim will be available in five variants - HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+. On the other hand, the GT Line variant will be offered in a single fully-loaded trim called GTX+. Let us see what each variant has to offer us.
The entry-level HTE trim of the Sonet will come equipped with basic features. These will include halogen headlamps, fabric seat upholstery, manual AC, 3.5-inch mono-color MID, front and rear USB charging ports, tilt steering, front door power windows, and electronically adjustable ORVMs. This base trim will get 15-inch steel wheels with covers. The safety kit will consist of dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. Since it is the base variant, it does miss out on some of the premium features such as infotainment system, automatic climate control, connected car technology, LED headlamps and tail-lamps, bigger wheels among others.
Talking about this mid-spec trim in the Tech Line variant, it gets some additional features along with the basic ones. These features include Semi-leatherette seats with white stitching, Height adjustable driver’s seat, Rear door power windows, 2 DIN Audio system with 4 speakers, Bluetooth, UVO Lite and Steering-mounted audio controls among others. As for the powertrain, then it retains the same engine options as present in the HTE trim.
The particular trim is quite different from the trim below it. However, it does miss out on some of the premium bells and whistles like LED headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail-lamps, bigger infotainment touchscreen unit, electric sunroof, rear defogger, alloy wheels among others. In comparison to the HTE and HTK trims, upfront it gets auto headlamps with projector fog lamps and chrome on the radiator grille. Other design highlights include Power folding ORVMs, Front and rear faux skid plate, roof rails, and Shark fin antenna. The cabin boasts of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Leather-wrapped gear knob, Automatic climate control, Wireless phone projection, Driver side power windows among others. As for safety features, it gets ESC, hill start assist, brake assist, traction control and drives modes.
The second-highest variant in the Sonet Tech Line retains most of the features from the HTK+. To top it off, it also gets an additional kit. Upfront, it gets LED headlights with LED DRLs. The rear end gets LED tail lamps. Other design highlights include silver garnish on doors along with chrome on the door handles. The cabin boasts of black and beige interior upholstery, a rear-seat armrest, and adjustable rear headrests. Furthermore, it gets a panoramic sunroof, smart key with push-button stop-start, cruise control, ISOFIX mounting points among others. The HTX trim does lack some of the premium bits such as a bigger infotainment unit with UVO connected car tech, a Bose premium sound system, sound mood lighting, alloy wheels, an air purifier, and wireless phone charging.
The HTX+ is the feature-loaded variant in the Sonet Tech Line trim. It retains every feature from the HTX variant. Along with it, it also gets some additional bits. These include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with UVO connected car tech, AI voice recognition, smartwatch connectivity, Bose premium 7-speaker sound system, 4.2-inch color MID, LED sound mood lighting, ventilated front seats, and leatherette seats. On the exterior front, this trim gets Leatherette wrapped door trims, two-tone roof, rear wiper & washer, and tyre pressure monitoring system. Furthermore, it also gets 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with silver wheel caps. As for the engine options, it remains the same as the HTX trim.
The GT Line trim is offered in a sole GTX+ variant. This variant gets slight design tweaks in comparison to the HT Line variants. Apart from this, it also gets an additional kit over the top-spec HTX+ variant. Cosmetically, it gets red accents on the front grille, bumper, side skirts, alloy wheel hub, and brake calipers, blacked-out skid plate, and sporty alloy pedals. The cabin of the GT Line trim boasts of all-black interior upholstery with insignia on front seats & steering wheel and wireless phone charging. The safety kit too gets additional features, These include six airbags, front parking sensors, ESC, hill start assist, brake assist, traction control, and drive modes. Talking about the powertrain, then it gets the same engine options as the HTX and HTX+ trim.
