Kia Motors is gearing up to expand its EV portfolio for the Indian automotive market by revealing its flagship EV9 electric SUV. The new model has recently been tested in the country for the first time. This indicates that Kia India is aiming to launch this model in the domestic market sometime soon.

Inside the cabin, the electric car features a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Level 3 ADAS, fingerprint authentication, USB charging points, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for phone connectivity, premium amenities such as swiveling second-row seats, and new connected technologies.

The EV9 electric sports utility vehicle has a futuristic and bold design. It comes with a sculpted exterior. In terms of dimensions, the electric car measures 1,980 mm in width, 5,015 mm in length, and 1,780 mm in height. The electric SUV comes equipped with styling elements like a closed grille, slender LED headlamps, star map-inspired LED tail lights, and prominent wheel arches.

The Kia EV9 is based on the company’s E-GMP platform, which is specifically designed for EVs. This platform supports several powertrain configurations, incorporating all-wheel drive, twin-motor, and back-wheel drive versions. The potent EV9 trim comes equipped with a twin-motor setup, producing 379 horsepower. The range-topping trims, on the other hand, are anticipated to deliver a driving range of over 300 miles.

The main highlight of the new EV is its rapid charging capability. The vehicle can be charged rapidly via an ultra-fast 800-volt DC fast charger. In 15 minutes of charging, the electric SUV can sprint up to 248 km. The automaker has also integrated vehicle-to-load functionality that aids the car in getting power supplies for several external uses.
