Upcoming Jeep Launches Slated for Indian Market, Read for Details

There were rumors flying around that the Italian maker Fiat will soon exit Indian market yet another time. However, there are reports on the internet stating that Fiat Chrysler is gearing up for more launches for the Indian market under the Jeep brand. Compass was a strong seller for the company in the Indian market and it gave the customers a taste of American SUVs. However, the arrival of new rivals made sure that the dream run of Compass did come to an end. The arrival of new rivals has led to the decline in the sales of the Compass SUV, but the maker is not going to stop here. A recent report highlighted that Fiat Chrysler is gearing up to launch 4 new SUVs in the Indian market and they will be launched under the Jeep brand. Let’s take a look at what the brand has in store for India and what launches could be seen from the brand.

Compass TrailHawk

The first in the list of SUV launches in India is the Trailhawk version of Compass SUV. Trailhawk version will be more off-road focused version of Compass. The upcoming SUV from the brand will come with tweaks for better performance while off-roading. Apart from the tweaks the Trailhawk will also come with changed looks and aesthetics so as to distinguish it from the normal Compass variants. The upcoming model will sit at the top of the current Compass line-up in the Indian market. Trailhawk will also come with the option of automatic gearbox with a diesel engine and will also feature off-roading modes. Among some of the changes expected in the off-road focused SUV some will be higher ground clearance, better water wading, improved departure and approach angles. Although there is no confirmed news on the same, the Trailhawk is likely to be priced around Rs. 27 lakhs in the Indian market.

Compass Facelift

As already mentioned, the arrival of new rivals has led to slowdown in the sales of the Compass SUV in the Indian market. Therefore, the company is planning to update the SUV so as to keep the model fresh in the market and fend off rivals at least for the time being. This will ensure that the brand can work on a new version of the SUV and continue selling the refreshed model of the same simultaneously.

Jeep’s Small Compact SUV

FCA has already revealed that the brand is planning to launch a compact SUV in the Indian market that will lock horns with the likes of Nissan Kicks and Hyundai Creta among others. The upcoming SUV will likely hit the Indian markets around the end of next year and there are hopes that the upcoming small compact SUV from Jeep will come with a petrol and a hybrid option in the Indian market.

7-Seater Version of Compass

The company had also made the announcement last year that they are currently working on a 7-seater version of their Compass in the market. This upcoming version of the successful SUV from the company will be positioned as a full-size SUV in the market and will take on rivals from the same segment. Although, there is no concrete news on the launch timeline for the same.
