Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is all set to expand its renewable energy portfolio in the country. For the same, it has inaugurated its second wind turbine system in Bhanvad, Gujarat, which is around 350 km from the company’s Vithalapur plant. This turbine system has been built with an investment of Rs 176 million. 


As for the first turbine system, it was installed in Radhanpur, Gujarat last year. Together with both turbine systems, Honda 2Wheelers will now be able to produce a total of 4.7 MW wind energy. Now, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India will be able to meet over 50 percent of total energy requirements from renewable energy resources at its four manufacturing plants in Manesar (Haryana), Tapukara (Rajasthan), Narsapura (Karnataka) & Vithalapur (Gujarat).

Honda 2Wheelers India has been consistently investing in sustainable resources for power generation. Close to 66 MW of electricity is generated every year. Having said that, all the manufacturing facilities of the two-wheeler brand across India harness renewable sources with an aim to meet the company’s diverse energy requirements. Talking about 2021-2022, the two-wheeler company was successful in generating more than 77 million kWh units of electricity from renewable sources. By doing this, over 55,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions were balanced in the environment.
