Great Wall Motors Debut in Auto Expo 2020

New Year brought news from another Chinese automaker–Great Wall Motors (GWM)–confirming their plans for an Indian market entry. This confirmation, which was on the official India page of the company via a tweet, corroborates our previous report on the introduction of the Haval brand in the country by Great Wall Motors.

A little information on Great Wall Motors: It is the largest manufacturer of SUVs and pickups in China and has four brands including Haval, Wey, Ora and Great Wall Pickup. Although Haval and Wey are SUV-centered brands, Ora is based on EV and, as the name suggests, Great Wall Pickup is a brand specializing in pick-up trucks and other commercial vehicles. The Chinese carmaker is based in Baoding Hebei, about 150 km south of Beijing, and the establishment of a manufacturing plant is currently scouting for the best location.

It is also worth noting that at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020, which is just over a month away, GWM will be exhibiting some items from its famous Haval brand. The stand will have three of Haval's successful SUVs on display, according to sources–the H4 (slightly larger than the Hyundai Creta), H6, and H9. Most expected to be featured are a few electric cars from sister brands Ora and Wey. The Indian Twitter page of the carmaker currently features three cars on the banner, including the facelift of the Haval H9 and H2 and the electric car of the Ora R1. This could be a sign of GWM's plans in India for future models.

As part of Chinese state-owned First Automobile Works, Haima has also recently confirmed its entry into the Indian market in related news. At Auto Expo 2020, the brand will make its debut.
