MG Motor India is all set to launch the 2021 Hector facelift on January 7 in the country. However, ahead of the official launch, the new SUV has been spotted undisguised at the outskirts of Vadodara in Gujarat. The 2021 MG Hector facelift will come with several subtle cosmetic updates at the outside and a plethora of new features in the cabin while being powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines. It will be at loggerheads with Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Nissan Kicks in the Indian market.
Going by the spy-shots, one can clearly notice the sleek headlamps and the revised front grille. The aero-plane styled fog lamps can also be seen which first made an appearance with the MG Hector Plus. The SUV will ride on bigger 18-inch alloy wheels with a fresh design as compared to the ongoing model's 17-inch wheels. The cabin is finished in a dual-tone black and beige upholstery as opposed to the current model's all-black theme. Recently, the 2021 MG Hector facelift was spotted at a dealership and clear images of the SUV were leaked online. It is also expected to get an updated version of the touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay & a suite of connected car technologies.
Mechanically, the 2021 MG Hector facelift will be available with the same set of engines as the present version. It will continue to be powered by the same 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine with 143bhp power, 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel engine with power output of 170bhp and a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine with 48V electric motor and 143bhp of maximum power. All the engines will be paired with the same 6-speed manual transmission as standard while the petrol engine will also be offered with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as option. The 2021 MG Hector facelift price is expected to be a bit higher than the current version which starts at Rs 12.83 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
