The Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled the Sea Lion 07 EV at the 2023 Guangzhou International Auto Show. The Sea Lion 07 electric SUV is part of BYD’s ‘Ocean’ series, which also incorporates the Seal electric sedan and the Dolphin hatchback. The new electric SUV is expected to launch globally in 2024, and it will compete with the Tesla Model Y. This electric car is based on BYD’s latest e-platform 3.0, which combines the battery pack into the vehicle’s floor and structure. It provides more space within the cabin.

The design of the electric SUV is very similar to that of the Seal sedan, and it has sleek lines with various creases and a coupe-like profile. It has angular headlamps along with L-shaped extensions that enclose LED DRLs. The BYD Sea Lion 07 also gets prominent side vents and a larger central air intake, adding more aggressiveness to the design of the SUV.

On the sides, the BYD Sea Lion 07 gets black cladding under the doors, flush door handles, aerodynamically designed alloy wheels, and cladding on wheel arches. At the rear, the new car gets a sleek roof-mounted spoiler and connecting LED taillamps. It also comes with a second lip spoiler that sits at the margin of the tailgate. The full-width tail lamps look strikingly like those utilized in the Seal sedan and the Atto 3. The rear bumper provides this SUV with a sporty look.

The new Sea Lion 07 measures a sizable 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, and it sits on a 2930 mm wheelbase. This makes the BYD Sea Lion 07 larger than SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner.

BYD has not disclosed any mechanical information about the new SUV. It is likely to be available with dual battery pack options: a mini battery pack with one electric motor and a larger battery pack with dual motors and AWD. The Sea Lion 07 electric SUV is expected to be priced at INR 28,000.
