BS4 Royal Enfield Motorcycles Sold Out In India

The Indian government is implementing stringent BS6 emission norms by 1st April 2020 with an aim to reduce vehicular air pollution. BS6 engines will be cleaner than their predecessor BS4 ones while forcing the automobile manufacturers to tweak their products to adhere to the new BS6 Emission Norms. As a result, bike manufacturers had to provide Discounts and Offers on the outgoing BS4 models in order to clear their unsold inventory. According to a couple of media reports, Royal Enfield has announced that its entire range of BS4 motorcycles has been sold out in India. As per the statement recived by these outlets, the Chennai based automotive manufacturer deployed phase-wise strategies to reduce production and distribution of BS4 inventory while simultaneously increasing BS6 motorcycles. Beginning 21 March 2020, all Royal Enfield stores across the country would sell BS6 compliant bikes thus becoming one of the first automotive brands in India to be fully BS6 compliant ahead of the deadline.    

 In 2020, Royal Enfield introduced its first BS6-compliant model, the Classic 350 and other models followed it. RE's BS6 lineup now consists of Bullet, Classic, Thunderbird, Himalayan, Interceptor and Continental GT. Royal Enfield Classic 350 BS6 dual-channel ABS is priced at Rs 1,65,025 (ex-showroom) while Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 is available for Rs 1,86,811 (ex-showroom).  The most recent to be launched were the BS6 Royal Enfield 650 Twins - Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The company has discontinued the Trials Bullet 350 and Bullet 500 in India just after a year from their launch. They were both BS4 compliant but the motorcycles didn’t generate the sales as the company had expected. In fact, The Bullet Trials 350 and the Bullet 500 have been removed from their official website. The next introduction would be the All-New Royal Enfield Meteor (Next Thunderbird) which has been spied testing on a couple of occasions hinting towards it eminent launch.
